What Percent of Indian Population can be considered "General Catagory"?

In the garboil of the OBC reservation fiasco, I was wondering, is there any general population at all in India. If it is, I think they are in minority (Going by government statistics)!!!! Ministry Officials claim that 52% of the Indian population is OBC (Other Backward Castes) . Dont believe- read http://www.telegraphindia.com/1060826/asp/frontpage/story_6660509.asp.

Well I thought reservations were ahnded over to minorities. but now even majorities are getting reservations. According to the 1991 census, there were 672.6 m Hindus, 95.2 m Muslims, . 18.9 m Christians, 16.3 m Sikhs, 6.3 m Buddhists and 3.4 m Jains in India. Assuming 52% of Indians are OBC, there were 422.6 m OBCs in India in 1991!!!!! Now according to census data, 16.33% and 8.01% of India's total population respectively were SC (Scheduled Caste) and ST (Scheduled Tribe) respectively. This translates to 132.7 m and 65.1 m of SC and ST population. Now the million dollar question......How many "General" category people were there in 1991? 52.2 m only!!!!!! The "General" should have lobbied the government to grant minority status to them.....They then constitued just 6.42% of India's population!!!!!!!

According to the 2001 Census, there were 77.69% Hindus,16.20% Muslim, 2.31% Christians, 1.85% Sikhs, 0.77% Buddhists, 0.41% Jains and 0.76% of other religions. The total population was 1028.6 m. Of this 166.6 m were SC, 84.3 m were ST. If there were 52% OBC, there were 534.9 m OBC. So adding up the population of SC/ST/OBC we get 785.7 m of these. So in 2001 there were 13.4 m General category people!!!!!!! High mortality rate it seems. the population has dwindled by 75%. Is this continues, "General" category people would become extinct from the face of Mother India!!!!!

It is high time that some political leader realises that Generals in India are a minority- a mere 1.3% according to the Govt data and the 2001 census. Also alarming is the high mortality rate of the General species it seems. :P Dr. Asurjun Singh must keep some quota for the General students now. A new rule must be passed!!!!!

Nevertheless, there is one point to ponder about if India has 13.4 m of normal "majority" population, its condition is worser than even Somalia. 785.7 m of its population is so called "backward". Cause of serious concern :D.

PS: This post was not published to hurt any community. The main objective is to point out the farce of the Ministers. India is a great country with impregnable unity and harmony in its populace. Unfortunately, some unscrupulous people endeavour to create chaos for their own benefit. Let the hoi polloi rise and restore the unity and harmony in India. Let Tagore's dream
" Where the world has not been broken up into fragments By narrow domestic walls" materialize. Jai Hind!!
